The 56th Scand-LAS 2026 Conference

Taking laboratory animal science to a higher level

The Scand-LAS 2026 conference, taking place in Copenhagen from 26–29 May 2026, is centered on advances in laboratory animal science and the responsible use of animals in research and education. The scientific program will include keynote lectures, oral presentations, poster sessions, workshops, and industry-supported sessions addressing both practical and scientific developments in the field.

The conference themes focus strongly on laboratory animal welfare, ethics, and refinement of research practices. Planned scientific topics include the 3Rs, non-animal research methods, anesthesia and analgesia, experimental design, housing and husbandry, culture of care, education and training, and legislation related to laboratory animal use. The meeting also highlights current challenges in biomedical research and facility management, while encouraging collaboration between academia, veterinarians, animal care technicians, and industry partners.

A major part of the program will consist of submitted research abstracts presented as oral talks and posters. Workshops and exhibitor sessions will provide additional opportunities to discuss new technologies, equipment, animal care solutions, and emerging scientific approaches relevant to laboratory animal science. In addition to the scientific sessions, the conference includes several networking and social activities.
